Common Kestrel
The common kestrel is a small falcon-like bird of prey that is one of the most widespread species in Europe and Asia. It is known for its ability to adapt to different environments - you can find it not only in nature but also in cities. It is most famous for its distinctive hunting style called 'fluttering' - the kestrel almost stops in place in mid-air, flapping its wings violently as it watches the movement of its prey from a height. It hunts mainly small mammals and birds, sometimes the size of a small pigeon.
