Big Ear Owl
The Big-eared Owl is one of the most widespread owls in our country and in Europe. At first glance, it may resemble a small Great Auk - mainly due to the distinctive "ears", i.e. the feathery tufts on its head, from which it got its name. This medium-sized owl is most often brown in colour, which serves it well as camouflage in forests and parks. Its main food source is mice and voles, which it hunts with incredible accuracy, especially at night.
